Our legacy
About Us
At John N. Moore Jr. Funeral Home, our story begins with family.
Founded in 1964 by Bernice and John N. Moore Sr., our funeral home was built on a simple belief: every family deserves compassionate guidance, personal attention, and dignified care during life’s most difficult moments. For more than 62 years, we have been honored to walk alongside families during times of loss, providing support with compassion, understanding, and respect. Today, our commitment remains as strong as ever. Under the leadership of John N. Moore Jr., a licensed New York State Funeral Director for 42 years, and alongside Dr. Joan Moore, president and the next generation of the family business, we continue to provide personalized service while carrying forward the values established by our founders.
While the way we serve families has evolved over the years, our mission has never changed: to provide compassionate guidance, thoughtful care, and the personal attention every family deserves. We consider it a privilege to help honor each unique life with dignity and respect.
Because we care and understand.

1880’s
Our family’s tradition of caring for others began with our ancestor, James Moore, who was known in his Tallahassee, Florida community for supporting families during times of loss. This early commitment to compassion and service became the foundation of our family’s legacy.
1964
John N. Moore Sr. and his wife, Bernice Moore, founded Moore Funeral Service, establishing a family-owned funeral service built on personalized care, dignity, and support for families.
1968
The funeral home opened its first storefront location in Westbury, New York, expanding our ability to serve families throughout the surrounding communities.
1976
As the needs of the community grew, the funeral home relocated to Roosevelt, New York. For 44 years, we were honored to serve families, build lasting relationships, and become part of the community.
Today
We continue to carry forward a multi-generational legacy of service. We remain committed to providing personal attention and dignified care to families throughout Nassau County, Suffolk County, the Five Boroughs, and surrounding communities.
